STOREFRONTS

Commercial storefront glass installation

A storefront is the first thing customers see and one of the most visible parts of a build-out. We design, fabricate and install aluminum storefronts and entrances that meet the landlord’s criteria, the energy code and the tenant’s brand.

THE FACE OF THE SPACE

Storefronts built to the landlord’s criteria and the tenant’s brand

Most shopping centers and mixed-use buildings have storefront criteria: required systems, finishes, sightlines and signage zones. A new tenant’s storefront has to satisfy those rules while still presenting the brand well, and the landlord typically reviews it before it is built.

Storefronts also carry code requirements. Exterior glass has to meet the energy code for insulation and solar performance, entrances need accessible hardware and thresholds, and glass near doors and floors must be safety glazing.

We handle all of it: reviewing the criteria, producing shop drawings for landlord and architect approval, fabricating the framing, and installing the glass, doors and hardware.

What a storefront package includes

SCOPE OF WORK

What we install

The parts of a commercial storefront, from the sill to the header.

Storefront framing

Aluminum framing systems sized for the opening and the wind loads at the site, in the finish the criteria call for.

Insulated glass

Insulated glass units with the thermal and solar performance the energy code requires for exterior glazing.

Entrances

Aluminum or all-glass entrance doors with closers, locks and accessible thresholds.

Hardware

Locks, panic devices, closers and access-control prep coordinated with the tenant’s security plan.

Safety glazing

Tempered or laminated glass at doors, sidelites and low glass as the building code requires.

Weatherproofing

Sill flashing, sealants and drainage so the storefront keeps water out for its full service life.

HOW THE JOB RUNS

The storefront sequence

The steps from criteria review to a finished entrance.
01

Review the criteria

We confirm the landlord’s storefront requirements before design, so the shop drawings are approved the first time.
02

Shop drawings and approval

Drawings go to the landlord and architect, and framing and hardware are released once approved.
03

Measure and fabricate

Openings are field-measured and the framing and glass are fabricated to the actual conditions.
04

Install and adjust

Framing, glass and doors are installed, sealed and adjusted, and the storefront is inspected.
COMMON QUESTIONS

Storefront questions

If your question is not here, call and ask for an estimator.

In most shopping centers and many mixed-use buildings, yes. We prepare the shop drawings for their review as part of the process.

Exterior storefronts generally use insulated glass to meet the energy code, with tempered or laminated safety glass where the building code requires it.

Yes. We replace doors and hardware on existing storefronts as well as installing complete new systems.

Most of the time is in approvals, fabrication and glass lead times. Installation itself is usually short once materials arrive.

Yes, including laminated glass, heavy-duty locks and prep for access control and alarm contacts.
