FOR GENERAL CONTRACTORS

Commercial glazing subcontractor for general contractors

Much of our work is under a general contractor. We give you a scope letter you can level against other bids, shop drawings on the specification’s turnaround, prompt field measuring and closeout documents before the final pay application.

WHAT GCS NEED FROM A SUB

A glazing sub that does not become the critical path

Glazing sits at the end of the schedule, which makes it easy for it to become the reason a job finishes late. A general contractor needs a glazier who releases materials early, measures as soon as openings are ready and installs without waiting to be chased.

Our bids are written to be leveled. Every inclusion and exclusion is spelled out — framing, glass types, hardware, blocking, sealants, access equipment, film — so you are comparing the same scope across bidders.

On site, we coordinate framing dimensions and blocking with the drywall and carpentry trades early, so the openings we measure are the openings the drawings intended.

What you get with our bid

HOW WE WORK WITH YOU

What we handle as your glazing sub

The administrative side of the job matters as much as the installation.

Leveled bids

Scope letters written line by line so the GC can level them against other glazing bids.

Shop drawings

Elevations, details and hardware submittals, on schedule and resubmitted promptly when comments come back.

Opening coordination

Rough opening sizes and blocking coordinated with framing so the glass fits the first time.

Schedule

A look-ahead that tracks fabrication and glass delivery against the dates openings will be ready.

Safety and compliance

Glass handling, lift equipment, and the insurance and documentation general contractors require.

Closeout

Warranties, hardware keying records and maintenance information delivered with the final punch.

HOW THE JOB RUNS

From bid to closeout

The milestones a general contractor can hold us to.
01

Bid with a clear scope letter

We return a scope letter that states what is in, what is out and what is an allowance.
02

Submit and release

Shop drawings and hardware submittals go first so materials can be released as soon as they are approved.
03

Measure and install

We measure as soon as openings are ready and install as soon as glass arrives.
04

Punch and close out

Doors are adjusted, the punch list is cleared and the closeout package goes in with the final.
COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions from general contractors

If your question is not here, call and ask for an estimator.

As soon as framing and openings are complete. We schedule measuring immediately so fabrication can start.

We call them out in the scope letter. Blocking, caulking at adjacent finishes, door hardware and film are commonly split between trades.

We can carry hardware for glass and aluminum doors, or install hardware supplied by others, as the scope letter states.

Approved shop drawings and confirmed dimensions where they can be confirmed from the drawings.

We can. We are also a full-service tenant improvement builder, but under a general contractor we carry only the glazing scope.
